Course Progression at the UKMC English Academy

We offer a range of English language training course to meet our students’ needs. During counselling an experienced teacher will advise students on their best learning pathway. Furthermore, our course options are flexible. For example, if a student wants to upskill their General English before taking an IELTS preparation course, we can advise on the best combination of courses. Here is an overview of the course taught at the UKMC English Academy.

If a student tests in at Elementary level but needs to take the IELTS test to get a band 5, we would recommend the following study pathway:

Course length and progress through the proficiency levels

On our courses learners can study 15 / 20 / 25 hours per week, typically for 3 to 9 months. The table below outlines the progress students can potentially make on our General English programme.

CEFR minimum guided learning hours = 120 hrs per proficiency level. CEFR recommended guided learning hours = 200 hrs per proficiency level.
